EUDR Compliance

At Cardiem all our Suppliers must be EUDR compliant

The EUDR applies all businesses placing wood and wood-based products, on the EU market. Although the UK is no longer in the EU, this regulation remains highly relevant to us due to our possible exports into the EU or our customers exporting their products into the EU

What Does the EUDR Require?

The EUDR introduces strict due diligence requirements to ensure that products are:

1. Deforestation-free

Products must not be sourced from land that was subject to deforestation or forest degradation after 31 December 2020.

2. Legally produced

Products must comply with all relevant local laws in the country of production — including land use rights, forest management, labour rights, and environmental protection laws.

3. Fully traceable

Operators must provide geolocation coordinates of the land where the wood was harvested, allowing authorities to verify compliance through satellite data and other tools.

4. Subject to a Due Diligence Statement (DDS)

Before placing products on the EU market, operators must submit a due diligence statement via an EU information system confirming the product complies with EUDR requirements.

This includes:

  • Product description and HS codes

  • Country of production

  • Geolocation data of harvest

  • Risk assessment and mitigation measures (if any)

5. Risk assessment and mitigation

Operators must assess the risk of non-compliance and take measures to eliminate or reduce that risk to negligible levels before placing the product on the market.

What is Cardiem doing?

As a trader rather than an operator we still have an obligation to ensure we protect ourselves and our customers from selling non-compliant products.

To meet these obligations, we ensure that our suppliers are:

  • Mapping their supply chains to ensure full traceability and compliance.

  • Working with their suppliers to gather the required data and documentation.

  • Aligning our sourcing policies with both EUDR and evolving UK due diligence requirements under the Environment Act.

  • Using systems to handle geolocation data and risk assessments.

Cardiem is committed to upholding responsible sourcing practices and ensuring full transparency across our supply chain.
